Pirate
Multimedia - London based film production company. Founded in
1996 by
Robert Andre and Paul Sealy. Pirate is one of the few
Afro-Caribbean run film production companies in the United
Kingdom. Their first foray into movie making came in 1997 with the
ten minute short Deadline swiftly followed by Honesty
(1998) and Third Eye (1998). In 2004 they released a
feature length version of 'Honesty' entitled The Best Policy
to a critical mauling before embarking on the so-called erotic
thriller Sister Sinner in 2005. Pirate employs a
staff of eight from various ethnic backgrounds. |

Michael
Powell (d) - the six officers charged
over his
death in custody were cleared in August 2006. A jury at Leicester
Crown Court found four of them not guilty of misconduct and two
not guilty of battery. Powell, 38, a father of three, had been struck by a patrol
car, then arrested after a struggle in Lozells, Birmingham in 2003.
The Police had been called by his mother, who was concerned he was having a
breakdown.
He was taken to a police station in neighbouring Handsworth. He collapsed while in custody and was taken to City Hospital, where he died in the early hours.

 The
Preddie Brothers - The
teenage killers of Peckham schoolboy Damilola Taylor had a series of convictions and a
street reputation before finally being found guilty in the Taylor
case (09 August 2006) . Ricky Preddie, 19 (right), had 24 offences
to his name. Danny Preddie, 18, had conspiracy to commit robbery
amongst other things. According to police sources: "whenever there was a robbery, one or other of the Preddies was involved."
The brothers, brought up in Peckham gained a reputation for violence at an early age.
Both were at the Old Bailey before Damilola's death, charged with indecent
assault, accused of assaulting two girls aged 10 and 12 in a park in
1999. The case was thrown out.

Kiyan
Prince (d) - was a budding footballer with London club
QPR. He was stabbed to death in May 2006 some 50 yards away from
his school ( The London Academy Edgware ) whilst according to
reports he was attempting to break up a fight. Kiyan aged 15 is
the son of former British light-heavyweight boxer Mark Prince. A
16-year-old was arrested and charged in connection to the incident |
