REMEMBER? |
CHARLIE
WILLIAMS - Before
Lenny Henry there was Charlie Williams,
that cheeky 'coloured ' chap from Yorkshire. Yes back in the day
when white people thought calling us 'coloured' was respectful,
Charlie was on the telly. |

Dwaine
Chambers -
is best known, unfortunately for him as a drug cheat athlete which
may forever shroud any past or future achievements in sport. Born in
1978 he recently (2008) made successful inroads into a return to the
track, even representing his country after a ban and self-exile
during which he tried American football. His achievements whether
drug-tainted or not include the 100 metres and sprint relay gold in the 1995 European Juniors, a bronze medal
at the 1999 World Championships. He won the 100m at the 2002 European Championships and
anchored Great Britain to victory in the 4x100m relay and silver at the 2003 World Championships.
He failed a drug test on 1 august 2003 testing positive for the banned anabolic steroid
THG and given a two-year ban by UK Athletics and later banned for life from the Olympics and stripped of the medals he'd
after 2002. His Great Britain relay team-mates were also stripped of their relay
medals - something that upset former relay team-mate Darren
Campbell. Later Chambers would also be asked to pay back close
to £200,000 in earners, more medals and have his records annulled,
before being allowed to return to the international athletics
circuit.
He returned to athletics in summer 2006 was part of the winning British 4x100m team.
In 2008 in the 60m indoor final at the Birmingham games he finished in 6.60
seconds later qualified for the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships. At
the World Indoor Championships he recorded a new personal best time and finished second
earning a silver medal.
Despite the result and a possible appeal against a lifetime Olympic ban he
joined English rugby league side Castleford Tigers in March
2008 on loan.

He presented the game show Robot Wars, on BBC Two and
five, and has been a DJ on the radio station BBC 6 Music.
In 1994, he and a friend were arrested and remanded in custody for several months on a rape
