Born: 14 February 56 Place of birth: London Marital status & family: Wife Liz and two children Best known as: Outspoken journalist Honours & accolades: Once voted amongst the most eligible bachelors in Britain. Ron Shillingford is perhaps one of the best known Black British journalists in the business. His work and experience in the media has spanned over three decades and has taken in print, television and radio. He is a former sports editor and deputy editor of the Voice newspaper. He also helmed the now defunct weekly the Caribbean Times newspaper. Shillingford is known to have a passion for boxing and has on occasion been sighted at various boxing clubs. The journalist turned author in the '90s with the publication of his first novel No Glove No Love - a work not surprisingly about boxing. As a journalist Ron has plied his trade at most if not all national newspapers including, the London Times, The Observer, Express and New Nation. He's also worked in radio for the BBC and as a producer on independent television. Once voted amongst the most eligible bachelors in the country, he married on the eastern Caribbean island of St.Lucia in 1997. Although Shillingford and family have a home in St.John's Wood, London, Ron is currently employed as a deputy sport's editor in the Bahamas. |
