THE parents
of murdered teen soccer star Kiyan Prince believed their son was
killed over a girl.
Mum Tracy
Cumberbatch and Kiyan’s father, former boxer Mark
Prince branded his murderer, 17-year-old
Hannad Hasan, a jealous sick coward.
Cumberbatch, 39, said: “Girls always
liked Kiyan.Everyone knew this girl liked him -
but nothing happened.I have no doubt Hasan confronted Kiyan
about the girl. He
would have disliked the fact that the girl fancied Kiyan who was in
the year below -It would have hurt his
pride.”
Prince said: “This guy was
jealous of my son. He had been play-fighting
with Kiyan’s friend but the moment he saw Kiyan, he went for his
knife. Hasan
become obsessed because Kiyan was more popular."
Both Kiyan’s
parents sat through the Old Bailey trials and were
angered to hear Hasan's
claim that the
stabbing was “an accident”.
Cumberbatch said: “We wanted him
to give his account in court but he didn’t. It was sad to see him
walking past and waving and joking with his family.”
Both parents say
Hasan should never be released. Tracy and
Mark have now launched the campaign, Put The Knives Down, Put The
Guns Down, to educate children about the dangers of weapons. The
track featuring
rapper Tinie Tempah is available on iTunes.
Hasan is will be
sentenced on July 26.
