07 APR 08 Elisabeth Murdoch the daughter of media mogul Rupert will host a London fundraiser for presidential hopeful Barack Obama at the Notting Hill home she shares with her husband, Matthew Freud. It's hard to tell whether this is a 'family' endorsement of Obama (The Murdoch media empire stretches far and wide). Elisabeth was previously married to Elkin Pianim, the Ghanaian businessman who set up the New Nation newspaper

CRICKET CONTRACT FOR CHRIS AGED FORTY
Chris Lewis the 40-year-old former England all-rounder will play in the Twenty20 competition for Surrey. Lewis, played in 32 Tests and 53 one-day internationals for England and helped Surrey win two one-day trophies in the 90s. LONDON ELECTIONS 04 APRIL 08 An e-mail from the office Tottenham MP David Lammy is doing the rounds encouraging people to vote in forthcoming elections. It's 'not' pro Ken Livingstone the mail says but warns of a genuine right-wing threat from a former Tory with BNP links. READ THE MAIL>>   DOWNING STREET may be London home of the Prime Minister but it didn't stop career burglar Obadiah Marius having a crack. The 45-year-old from East London recently received a 12-month suspended jail sentence for breaking into number 10.  MORE>>

NIT-PICKING AT HISTORY Two defence lawyers on the advisory board of the IPCC quit this week (14 Feb), claiming they felt "dismay and disillusionment" about the way the IPCC was run. Raju Bhatt and Tony Murphy of the Police Action Lawyers Group complained about the "consistently poor quality of the decision-making process at all levels of the IPCC"

HBO's THE WIRE is where it's at. IDRIS ELBA is British and brilliant as Stringer Bell. This high octane cop drama set in Baltimore in the US is all about cops chasing intelligent drug dealers with business acumen. It's good stuff. SEASON 1 is on sale at TESCO for £20, SEASON 2,3 and 4 costs a bit more. The final season is being shown inthe  US and due on satellite here in July (FX SKY165)
