KEITH ALEXANDER - football league manager

The 49-year-old 6ft 4ins former centre forward rose to fame after transforming crisis club Lincoln

----------------

Arguably we've listed the most influential Black people in Britain. Whether they work in the public or private sector, are wealthy or not. They are here by virtue of the influence they have in defining life and how we as a community live, are viewed and treated in Britain.
This list is in no way complete, and we are not saying we are right  - but justify the reason for an inclusion or exclusion and we will happily amend.

Keith Alexander has vowed to breathe life into struggling Macclesfield Town after landing the job in February 2008. Alexander a former player turned manager survived a cerebral aneurysm in November 2003 during his first stint in charge of Lincoln City. The 49-year-old 6ft 4ins former centre forward rose to fame after transforming crisis club Lincoln, where in 1992 he became Britain's first Black football league manager. He did two spells in charge at Lincoln and was more recently in charge at Barry Fry's Peterborough United.
Other Black names who have follow Alexander to managed in Britain have included; Ruud Gullit (Chelsea), Viv Anderson (with Bryan Robson at Middlesborough), John Barnes (Glasgow Celtic), Paul Ince (Macclesfield, MK Dons), Chris Houghton (temped at Spurs and now #2 at Newcastle) and Carlton Palmer (Mansfield and Stockport County).
